Siewdass Saddhu's Water Temple
Siewdass Saddhu an Indian laborer promised the gods that he would build them a temple if they granted him a safe ocean passage from India to Trinidad. They did. So he attempted to build them a temple on land, but the estate owners tore it down. "The sea belongs to no one," so he built his temple in the sea. Not only did he build the temple, but he also constructed the 500 foot stone causeway to access it. |
